Our centre is a family practice operated by a team of experienced and dedicated General Practitioners. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive, one-stop medical service where you can feel confident that all your health needs will be cared for under one roof.

We take pride in our caring approach — offering attentive, unhurried consultations and truly listening to every concern. Our team of both male and female doctors provides a full range of general practice services, including:

  • Immunisation

  • Heart health check

  • Workers compensation

  • Family planning procedures (Mirena and Implanon)

  • Iron infusion for limited candidates

  • Minor injury management.

All patients with chest pain and Acute respiratory distress are encouraged to go to the emergency department.

All patients with symptoms of a cold are advised to do the Triple RAT test before coming or at the surgery.

We are a mixed-billing practice. Please note that a gap payment may apply for patients aged 17–67 years without a concession card.

Principal General Practitioner, FRACGP

Dr Zobaida Akhter is an experienced and dedicated General Practitioner who enjoys all aspects of family medicine. She completed Fellowship in Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2016, and a diploma in child health at the University of Sydney. Professional Diploma in Skin Cancer Surgery, Bond University. Training in obstetrics and gynaecology. Certificate in men’s and sexual health. Certificate in opioid management. She performs Skin cancer biopsies, excisions, flaps, cyst removal, and minor procedures. She also does IUCD ( Mirena) insertion. Implanon insertion/removal, Iron infusion (Subject to appropriate candidates) in the surgery.

Refugee health check

A complete health assessment for individuals from refugee backgrounds, preferably within one month of arrival, addressing both immediate concerns and long-term health and psychosocial needs. This helps ensure continuity of care and a trusting relationship with a new health provider.

Driver’s licence medical check

A thorough medical examination to ensure a patient is medically fit to operate a motor vehicle safely. This includes assessing vision, hearing, cognitive functions, and general physical and mental health.

Chronic disease management

Personalized care plans to help patients manage long-term health conditions.

Mental health

Assessments and treatment plans for various mental health conditions.

Podiatry

Specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and lower leg conditions.

Pathology collection centre

An on-site facility run by Douglass Hanly Moir where blood, tissue, and other samples are collected for testing.

Minor surgery

Small surgical procedures performed in the clinic, such as removing skin lesions.

Telehealth

Remote consultations for patients who are unable to visit the clinic in person. 

Aboriginal health check

Are appointments necessary, or can I walk in?

Is the medical centre open on weekends?

We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, with regular operating hours from Monday to Friday.

What types of consultations are available?

North Rocks Medical Centre offers a range of GP consultations, including standard appointments, long appointments for more complex issues, and telehealth consultations for certain conditions.

Does the centre bulk bill all patients?

No, the centre does not bulk bill all patients. While it may bulk bill specific patients such as children under 15, pensioners, and DVA cardholders, billing is at the individual doctor's discretion. Private fees generally apply, with patients paying and then claiming their Medicare rebate.

What allied health services are offered?

In addition to general practice, the centre provides access to allied health services, including psychology, dietetics, podiatry, exercise physiology, and physiotherapy.

Is there a pathology service on-site?

Yes, the North Rocks Medical Centre has an on-site pathology collection centre operated by Douglas Hanly Moir.
